Phakamani Women’s Group
Phakamani, which means “to stand up and do it yourself”, is a project where six women from the Lwandle community are trained to sew each year. Some of the women are the mothers and grandmothers of children at the school. At the end of each training course, the school aims to provide each trainee with a new sewing machine to use in their home.
“It is far better to move ahead slowly with small steps. Making a real difference in one person’s life is worth more than superficially addressing many.” – Victoria Mangqwengqwe
